Though it’s hard to believe, this time last year the Vegas Golden Knights hadn’t even played a game in the NHL yet. They participated in the expansion draft and NHL Entry Draft in late June of 2017 and were preparing for their first season as a franchise.
The team exceeded all expectations, breaking a number of records. They started the season undefeated through three games, which is an NHL record for an expansion team.
Furthermore, they won eight of their first nine games, becoming the first NHL team to do so in their debut season. On February first, they set the expansion team record for most wins in an inaugural season with 34 wins in just 50 games.
