The Edmonton Oilers are arguably one of the most poorly run teams in the NHL right now. It seemed like there was a bright future ahead for them just a few years ago.
With talented players like Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle in their system, they were working towards rebuilding. They were starting to assemble a team that could compete in coming years (sound familiar?).
It seemed like the plan was finally coming together when the team chose superstar Connor McDavid first overall at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Despite injuries, he had a great first year and was nominated for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
