After making the playoffs in Glen Gulutzan’s first year at the helm, the Calgary Flames missed the cut at the end of the 2017-18 regular season. This is the second time in the last four years that the Flames missed the playoffs after making them the season prior. This lead to his firing and the subsequent hiring of Bill Peters.
Calgary has a young core and is definitely entering a “win now” phase as Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and new addition Elias Lindholm are hitting their primes. The team had a busy offseason, as they bolstered their lineup by adding veteran James Neal.
