Jake Leschyshyn may be suiting up for the New York Rangers when they take on the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday.
The Blueshirts picked him up off waivers on Wednesday from the Vegas Golden Knights, and head coach Gerard Gallant is familiar with his game.
“I seen him one year maybe two (in Vegas),” Gallant noted. “Character kid. Works hard and competitive. He did real well in minors last year and had good numbers. He’s a role player that kills penalties and plays that defensive game.”
A second round pick of the Knights from 2017, he has no points with 38 hits, 8 blocks, and a -7 rating in 22 games this season.
