In a somewhat surprising move, the New York Rangers called up Libor Hajek from the Hartford Wolfpack. Hajek was a key acquisition in the Ryan McDonagh trade last season and he will be under a microscope when he takes the ice.
It has been widely reported that when Jeff Gorton insisted on including him in the deal, Steve Yzerman insisted on getting J.T. Miller in exchange. Hajek had been drafted in the second round, 37th overall in the 2016 Entry Draft. He made the jump to the AHL after three seasons in the WHL with Saskatoon and Regina.
