Come June 21st, the New York Rangers will lose one rostered player in the NHL’s expansion draft. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will be able to select one unprotected player from each team in the league.
Although there is about a month until team must reveal what players they will protect, it is pretty obvious which players will remain on Broadway.
The team will protect seven forwards–Rick Nash (NMC), Derek Stepan (NMC), Chris Kreider, Kevin Hayes, J.T. Miller, Mika Zibanejad and Mats Zuccarello–three defensemen–Ryan McDonagh (NMC), Dan Girardi (NMC) and Marc Staal (NMC)– and one goalie–Henrik Lundqvist–in the draft.
