Kaapo Kakko signed his Entry Level Contract with the New York Rangers and will make the league rookie maximum $925,000. That Kakko was going to sign was never in doubt, but Ranger fans were waiting for this announcement.
Kakko who was selected second overall in the June NHL Entry Draft, is the most highly regarded Ranger draft pick in decades. He is expected to fit right into the starting lineup as an impact forward.
With Kakko signed, the Rangers have their two most important off-season acquisitions under contract in Kakko and Artemi Panarin and now can focus their attention on getting the third biggest new Ranger, Jacob Trouba, under contract.
