Last season, the New York Rangers dealt veteran forward Kevin Hayes to Winnipeg at the trade deadline. In return, the Rangers received Brendan Lemieux, Winnipeg’s 2019 first overall pick and a 2022 conditional 4th round pick (which they did not receive).
Winnipeg, whose regular season record was 47-30-5 finished with 99 points – good enough for second in the division and fourth in the conference. The Jets added a slew of players at the deadline in addition to Hayes in hopes to drive further drive success in the postseason.
However, they fell way short, saw a first round exit, and had to regroup in the off-season.
