New York Rangers Hire Beukeboom as Assistant Head Coach

After a decision to retire from the NHL due to multiple concussions, Jeff Beukeboom has found his way back into the league, taking over Ulf Samuelson’s vacant assistant coach position.

Acquired in a trade that allowed him to spend eight seasons with the Rangers, Beukeboom was an integral part of the team’s 1994 Stanley Cup Championship along with fellow defenseman Brian Leech. Through his 13 years in the League, he was known as a powerful and dominating defenseman, and all that skill will now be put to use in a different way.

After spending a few seasons with the Rangers’ AHL affiliation, the Hartford Wolf Pack, he has now been called upon for a bigger role in the team’s development alongside Alain Vigneault.
