After eventually succumbing to a barrage of late pressure, the New York Rangers regained their composure to come up clutch in overtime and secure what was a huge win against a revitalized Toronto team.
Alexandar Georgiev got the start for the Blueshirts who were playing the first game of a four-game swing in Canada.
The Rangers were without Brendan Lemieux, however, with the forward recovering from a broken hand suffered in the win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.
In Lemieux’s place was Steven Fogarty, who had 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 32 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL this year.
