New York Rangers: Eddie Olczyk Diagnosed With Colon Cancer

Tuesday, current NBC Sports’ broadcaster Eddie Olczyk announced that he is battling a form of colon cancer.

Per the announcement, released by one of his former teams, the Chicago Blackhawks, Olczyk had a tumor removed and is going to receive chemotherapy as part of the treatment in the coming weeks. He is expected to return to work with NBC once his treatment is completed.

Olczyk spent 16 years in the NHL, beginning with the 1984-85 season. He finished his career with 794 points (342 G, 452 A) over 1,031 games for the Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings.
