The New York Rangers placed defenseman Tony DeAngelo on unconditional waivers Friday for the purpose of buying out his contract.
DeAngelo, 25, signed a two-year, $9.6 million contract extension in October 2020. However, he played in only six games last season before being involved in a reported altercation with goaltender Alexandar Georgiev.
