After dropping back-to-back division games against the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals, the New York Rangers found their way back into the win column with a solid game against the Ottawa Senators.
In the first half of a home-and-home and on the anniversary of Marek Malik’s legendary shootout goal, the Rangers played 40 minutes of tight hockey, featuring multiple posts hit by both teams. They skated to a 1-1 tie at the end of two.
But in the third period, the Rangers got the bounces. Lias Andersson scored his first goal of the season on a deflected Ryan Strome shot, and Filip Chytil connected with Chris Kreider just minutes later.
