Drafted in the first round by the Ottawa Senators in 2011, Matt Puempel has had some mixed results in the league.
Puempel spent parts of his first three seasons of his career in Ottawa, putting up stagnant numbers. Puempel only produced six points in 52 games with Ottawa. After joining the New York Rangers, the Canadian winger reinvented his game, putting up nine points in 27 games.
For the upcoming season, Puempel can fill a much needed space at the wing during times where wingers are injured. Puempel will likely start the season in place of Jesper Fast, who had hip surgery and is expected out until November.
