McDonagh doubtful for Game 3, “but stranger things have happened”

GREENBURGH – Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said he was surprised to see captain Ryan McDonagh join the team for practice on Monday.

But for the first time since suffering a right hand injury blocking a shot on April 4, there he was, in a full-contact jersey, practicing with his teammates.

Vigneault said McDonagh looked good, though he skated with Raphael Diaz, just called up from Hartford (AHL), and said it was “doubtful” that McDonagh could play Game 3 of the Rangers’ playoff series against Pittbsurgh at the Garden Tuesday, adding, “but stranger things have happened.
