Matt Beleskey clears waivers

Veteran winger Matt Beleskey cleared waivers today, which means that he will join the 4-4-1 Hartford Wolf Pack.

As Shayna mentioned yesterday when Beleskey hit the waiver wire, the New York Rangers acquired him in the trade that sent Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins before last year’s trade deadline. The Bruins retained 50 percent of Beleskey’s $3.8 million cap hit as part of the terms of that deal. Now that Beleskey has cleared waivers and is buried in the minors, he will carry a reduced cap hit of $875,000 for the Rangers.
