Lundqvist outstanding for red-hot Rangers — as Vigneault planned

That whole slow start thing, well, the Rangers seem to be done with that.

The previous two years with coach Alain Vigneault behind the bench, the Blueshirts have struggled in the opening portion of their schedule to find any traction. But following a second straight victory over the Blue Jackets, a 5-2 victory in the home-opener at the Garden on Saturday night, the Rangers are now 3-0 to start the season and off to a rollicking start.

“It’s our home opener, I know guys want to do real well,” coach Alain Vigneault said before the game, his team having beaten the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks during their emotional season-opener in Chicago on Wednesday night.
