For about the millionth time this year, the New York Rangers played well but failed to play a complete game. The team managed to keep things close against a less talented team in the Minnesota Wild, yet failed to capitalize on golden scoring chances and allowed the opposition to stay close enough to pull away at a key moment.
When it comes to talent, Minnesota and New York are both in the same class. A handful of above average players with no true superstars. For the Rangers, Thursday night’s game very well may have been a goodbye to forwards Mats Zuccarello and Kevin Hayes as both are pending unrestricted free agents and the trade deadline is three days away.
