It is no surprise at all. It is the process.
Four eligible Rangers filed for salary arbitration by Tuesday’s deadline: Chris Kreider, J.T. Miller, Kevin Hayes and Dylan McIlrath.
What will be a surprise is if any make it to an actual arbitration hearing. The Rangers and their restricted free agents with arbitration rights have had a way of reaching last-minute contracts and avoiding arbitration the previous six years.
The last Ranger to actually get to arbitration was Nik Zherdev. The Rangers walked away from his $3.9 million award and made him an unrestricted free agent in 2009.
