Kevin Hayes’ last-minute goal lifts Rangers over Ducks

It took the Rangers a while to get going, but they eventually did just enough.

The Blueshirts were able to pull out a 3-1 victory over the Ducks on Tuesday night at the Garden, the game-winner coming on Kevin Hayes’ shorthanded goal with 40 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Rangers (15-13-5) entered 2-5-3 since Thanksgiving, a stretch that included consecutive 4-3 overtime losses to the Coyotes and Golden Knights on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Alex Georgiev, back from a two-week stint with AHL Hartford, got the start in net against a Ducks (19-12-5) team that came in having won four in a row, including just Monday night in Pittsburgh.
