Kaapo Kakko came off injured reserve in time to play in Friday’s 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets. To make room for him on the 23-man roster, fourth-line forward Ryan Reaves was placed on injured reserve. Reaves suffered a lower body injury — it appeared to be an injury to his left leg — in the Rangers’ 5-1 loss to Calgary on Monday.
Kakko played 14:54 and had three shots on goal. He had one takeaway and no giveaways, and he and linemates Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome dominated possession in the first period and generated many chances and created momentum.
