New York Rangers’ defenseman Jack Johnson will be out for the rest of this season after undergoing successful hernia surgery on Friday.

The 34-year-old signed with the Blueshirts last July to a one-year, 1.15 million contract after Pittsburgh bought out the final two years of his last deal. He played 13 games this season, where he averaged 16:58 minutes of ice time, and earned one point.
