NASHVILLE, Tenn. – John Tavares of the Islanders won the Accuracy Shooting contest Saturday night at the NHL All-Star Skills Competition, hitting four targets in 12.294 seconds while taking passes from Jaromir Jagr and Nicklas Backstrom.
Tavares, an Eastern Conference captain, met with Jagr Friday to divvy up skills assignments and placed himself in the shooting event, in which he competed less successfully last year in Columbus, needing a whopping 26.122 seconds to complete the task.
P.K. Subban of the Canadiens won the Breakaway Challenge after donning a wig and a Jagr jersey in honor of his 43-year-old fellow All-Star.
