It’s maybe the most absurd stat going in sports right now, and it certainly gives some insight into why the Rangers have been so successful over the past five years.

With Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over the Hurricanes at the Garden, the Blueshirts extended their record to 159-1-9 when leading going into the third period. It’s a 169-game run that goes back to Feb. 6, 2010, a 3-1 win over the Devils that followed a disappointing blown lead in a 6-5 loss to Tom Poti and his Capitals.
