Today, the AHL announced that New York Rangers prospect Igor Shesterkin was named the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for October.
Shesterkin, who is playing his first season of North American hockey with the Hartford Wolf Pack, posted a 5-1-0 record with a .942 save percentage, a 1.49 GAA, and 146 total saves in the month of October. His play has been integral to Hartford’s league-best 8-1-1 record to start the 2019-20 season. This is also Hartford’s best start to a season in 15 years, per the AHL’s release.
After allowing three goals in his AHL debut, Shesterkin allowed less than two goals in four consecutive starts, including a 36-save shutout on Oct.
