SEATTLE – Igor Shesterkin didn’t get an assist on the play, but he sure deserved one.
The Rangers goaltender had been brilliant throughout Sunday night's game, the only reason the Blueshirts were even in the game, and a turnover inside the Rangers’ blue line turned into a one-on-one opportunity for Brandon Tanev, just outside the goal crease, against Shesterkin. The goalie flashed a left pad to make the save and, 11 seconds later, Adam Fox took a pass from Artemi Panarin and scored on a wrist shot to break a tie and push the Rangers to a 3-1 win in their first-ever meeting with the expansion Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena.
