The definition of a tough, physical team is changing in the modern NHL, and Rangers’ coach Alain Vigneault knows that.
Which is a big reason why the roster he has set for Wednesday night’s opener in Chicago is devoid of a true enforcer — as are most rosters around the league. Instead, the physicality is expected from up and down the lineup, no matter players’ size or fight history.
“That’s just part of the right way to play,” Vigneault said after Monday’s practice in Westchester. “I think we’re one of those teams that does it the right way.
