Remember the very-early chatter of Oscar Lindberg in the conversation for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie?
Boy, that seems like a long time ago, especially in light of the fact the Rangers’ 24-year-old Swedish forward is set to be a healthy scratch for the second straight game when his team goes into the Barclays Center to take on the Islanders on Thursday night.
“Obviously the season goes up and down,” Lindberg said after Wednesday’s practice, his statement never more evident than his four goals in the first three games, his seven tallies in the first 13 games — and just four goals in the previous 27 contests before his scratch against the Bruins on Monday night.
