The NY Rangers have signed defenseman Adam Clendening, bringing the soon-to-be 31 year old defenseman back into the fold. Clendening was a #fancystats darling during his first stint with the Rangers for the 2016-2017 season. He put up 2-9-11 in 31 games, which made him the 6th highest scoring defenseman on total points, but the 5th highest based on points per game. Clendening also spent half of last season with the Hartford Wolf Pack (1-8-9 in 20 games).
Clendening hasn’t played an NHL game since the 2018-2019 season, so he likely isn’t an NHL option. Clendening would probably take Zac Jones’ role in Hartford for now, and could compete with Ben Harpur for the 8D spot.
