Henrik Lundqvist snuffs fears, reminds world of his genius

TORONTO — All that was missing was the chant of “Henrik … Henrik.”

For Henrik Lundqvist, who was too ill to play in Team Sweden’s opening game of the World Cup of Hockey on Sunday against Russia, returned to Tre Kroner’s nets and put on a show in his team’s 2-0 victory over Finland on Tuesday afternoon.

“It was an important game for me,” said the King, whose team was outshot 36-28 and didn’t seal it until Loui Eriksson’s empty-netter with three seconds remaining. “It was only my third game in the last four months, so you try and build your game, but you have to help the team in such a big game.
