PITTSBURGH — Henrik Lundqvist doesn’t go to Team Sweden; Team Sweden comes to Henrik Lundqvist.
Or at least that was one way of looking it.
The announcement of the first 16 players named to one of the favorites to win September’s World Cup of Hockey was held at the Rangers’ Westchester practice facility Wednesday, soon after Lundqvist finished practice with his NHL team and just before he was set to leave for Pittsburgh to play the Penguins on Thursday night.
And upon seeing the names on the preliminary roster, King Henrik had a prediction.
“We haven’t talked about it within the group, obviously, but the goal and the mindset going into this is to win,” Lundqvist said.
