For the first time in 2018-19, Henrik Lundqvist could not get the help he needed. Facing 46 shots on the afternoon, Lundqvist received no support from his teammates who were unable to beat Calvin Pickard falling to the Flyers 4-0.
It did not take long to realize that the Rangers were going to need more help than usual. Everyone but Lundqvist started the game sluggish being outshot at one point in the first period 15-5. It was an important start for the Flyers considering they entered play struggling at 5-3-2 in their last 10 games.
Just when it looked like New York would get escape the first scoreless, Philadelphia would get a lucky bounce as a Travis Konecny shot would go off Lundqvist’s pads and deflect off the defending Brady Skjei into the Rangers net.
