The Hartford Wolf Pack has suspended forward Ryan Gropp for failure to report to the Maine Mariners following his reassignment to the ECHL. The former second round pick has struggled mightily since the Rangers signed him to a three year ELC for the 2017-2018 season.
A suspension could mean multiple things, but it appears that this is a case of Gropp being upset about his demotion. There is still an outlier chance that this is a paperwork move as Gropp re-evaluates his career, much like the Jets did with Dustin Byfuglien.
Suffice it to say, I think we can unfortunately call Gropp a bust.
