Hall of Famer Jean Ratelle’s No. 19 will be raised at MSG

Another blue jersey soon will hang from the Madison Square Garden rafters.

No. 19, worn by Jean Ratelle, the smooth-skating, playmaking center of the GAG (Goal-A-Game) line of Rod Gilbert and Vic Hadfield, will be raised next season. A date will be announced after the NHL schedule is finalized, the Rangers announced Saturday.

Ratelle scored 109 points in 63 games in 1971-72, when the Rangers advanced to the Stanley Cup Final, and had 336 goals and 817 points in 862 games in 16 seasons on Broadway. He played his final five-plus seasons for the Bruins and retired in 1981.
