Gord Murphy named assistant coach of the Hartford Wolf Pack

The New York Rangers have named Gord Murphy as an assistant coach of the Hartford Wolf Pack on Kris Knoblauch’s coaching staff.

Murphy, 52, was last behind the bench of the Philadelphia Flyers as an assistant coach. According to Behind the Benches, he worked with Philadelphia’s defense from 2014 to 2018, under Craig Berube in 2014-15 and Dave Hakstol through the rest of his tenure. There, from 2017 to 2018, he worked with then-Flyers’ assistant coach Knoblauch, who was responsible for the power play. Murphy was fired from the Flyers in November 2018, just weeks before head coach Hakstol was.
