When Micheal Haley made the New York Rangers out of training camp, some observers were perplexed. He had come to camp on a Professional Tryout after not being offered a contract by the San Jose Sharks. His performance in the preseason was not exactly stellar.
Haley played in four of the five preseason games. The most ice time he had in any one game was 9:47. He scored one goal in those four games and was an even plus/minus player. He did get into three fights and took one other minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The game that he played the fewest minutes was the only game the Rangers won with him in the lineup.
