MONTREAL — Every athlete goes through days like this. Ideally, though, they don’t happen during your NHL debut.
Goalie Alexandar Georgiev had something of a rude introduction to the NHL Thursday, though in his defense, it was mostly because of the players around him. Despite a strong showing, he allowed two goals on two gaffes as the Canadiens made easy work of a Rangers’ defense that seemed positively confused at times. The Rangers lost, 3-1.
Georgiev didn’t have much of a shot at the first goal he allowed seven minutes into the game — a tap in by Tomas Plekanec who was stationed all by his lonesome near the far post and scored easily on Paul Byron’s pass.
