The Rangers and Islanders are back at it for a weekend matinee affair. After the Rangers fell in Long Island on Tuesday, they’ll look to bounce back in front of their home crowd this afternoon at Madison Square Garden, and stop the bleeding on what is currently a Metropolitan Division title chase that’s slipping out of their grasp.
As things stand, the Rangers are one point ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes (and the Dallas Stars for Presidents’ Trophy consideration) with each team only having two games remaining. Peter Laviolette’s squad still controls its destiny for where it will end the regular season, but the consecutive losses on Tuesday and Thursday have whittled away at the team’s room for error.
