1. A couple of notes on the Rangers’ depth defensemen. Like Emerson Etem, who needed time to become acclimated to his new surroundings, team and system, Dylan McIlrath’s learning curve so far in his NHL career has been a little bit steeper than I first thought and would like. I certainly didn’t expect McIlrath to have just one start so far in the first 10 games of the season. At this point, it’s clearly going to take an injury or a severe lack of performance to be uprooted off the top 6 right now. Most of them appear to be turning a corner.
