VANCOUVER — His face partially hidden by a ball cap and huge dark sunglasses, Jack Hughes, who likely will be the first overall pick in Friday's NHL draft by the Devils, sat on a chair on a boat Thursday at the league’s pre-draft media availability for the top prospects and delivered the same polished answers he always gives to reporters.
Maybe a half-hour later, Kaapo Kakko, the Finnish forward who’s expected to be taken No. 2 overall by the Rangers, sat in the same chair. He doesn’t speak English as well as Hughes does, but his short answers were almost as impressive.
