It has been a momentous off-season for the New York Rangers who made a plethora of bold and aggressive moves in order to accelerate the rebuild and move a step closer to achieving their long-term aim of becoming a powerhouse in the NHL again.

Kaapo Kakko, Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba and Artemi Panarin will be among the new faces introduced to Madison Square Garden on opening night and they have all added to the palpable excitement that is currently sweeping around The Big Apple.

But it is an old face, a much-loved and treasured franchise icon that could steal the headlines in 2019-20 and remind everyone in and around the NHL why he is lovingly referred to as “The King.
