Take it easy, Torts.
Ex-Rangers coach John Tortorella injured his back in a collision with Columbus Blue Jackets forward Rene Bourque in an outdoor practice on Friday and had to be transported to the hospital for further examination, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
Tortorella reportedly left practice under his own power after taking a nasty fall, but Blue Jackets president of hockey operations John Davidson told the Dispatch that Tortorella’s back “locked up” shortly after he left the ice.
Tortorella later climbed into an ambulance and was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital. It was unclear if he would make the trip to Boston for a game against the Bruins on Saturday.
