Retired NHL star Sean Avery rejected a plea deal Monday in Manhattan Criminal Court for hitting a car with his scooter after it blocked a bike lane in Greenwich Village.
Manhattan prosecutors told the former Ranger that if he paid $3,000 in restitution and stayed out of trouble for six months, they’d dismiss his case.
“At the moment that’s respectfully declined,” said Avery’s lawyer, Dmitriy Shakhnevich, as his client stood beside him in a black T-shirt, shorts and moccasin-style tennis shoes.
Avery, 38, was arrested on one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief for allegedly bashing the driver’s side of a car Feb.
