Looking for a positive after another loss, in the midst of a tough six-game stretch of 1-4-1, Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said something rather curious.
“If you analyze the way some guys are analyzing games right now, with the stats, you’ll probably see that other than faceoffs, most of the stats are on our side,” he said after his team dropped a 2-1 decision to the visiting Avalanche on Thursday night.
It was a confusing statement, because if there were a reading into the statistics — especially the “enhanced” statistics, to which Vigneault might have been alluding — the message coming out only has predicted the Blueshirts’ recent fall from grace.
