Defenseman Fredrik Claesson sits out with upper-body injury

Once he got a chance to get in the lineup, defenseman Fredrik Claesson played so well that coach David Quinn couldn’t take him out. But an upper-body injury that caused Claesson to miss Friday’s practice and leave Saturday’s practice early forced him to sit out Sunday’s game after having played in four straight.

The injury “doesn’t seem to be long term,’’ Quinn said. But with Claesson out, the coach got a chance to re-insert veteran Adam McQuaid after McQuaid had sat out the previous two games. Defenseman Anthony DeAngelo and forward Ryan Spooner were the other two scratches.
