Until this summer, the New York Rangers had only Brady Skjei under contract for as many as five more years. With the signings of Artemi Panarin and Jacob Trouba, they now have three players committed with the Panarin and Trouba due to be paid through 2026.
Ranger fans tend to cringe when considering that kind of term. The team is still suffering from the six-year deals handed out to Marc Staal and Dan Girardi during their Stanley Cup Final run. Henrik Lundqvist‘s seven-year contract still has two more years to go.
