WASHINGTON – Pavel Buchnevich’s stint in the doghouse lasted just one game, as the 23-year-old Russian winger was back in the lineup Wednesday.
“Hey, listen, he’s a really good player,’’ Rangers coach David Quinn said of Buchnevich. “I thought he had a really good practice the other day, and he’s had a good attitude and we need him. I want to give him a chance to get back in and get back on the horse.’’
There was something of a catch, though. Buchnevich was put back in the lineup to replace Cody McLeod, who stepped in for him in Tuesday’s 3-2 shootout win over the Colorado Avalanche, and Quinn inserted him into McLeod’s spot in the lineup, which meant Buchnevich played left wing on the fourth line, with center Ryan Spooner and right wing Vinni Lettieri.
