Brady Skjei called up by Rangers

With Dan Girardi nursing a swollen knee that will keep him out of Tuesday's game, the Rangers called up 21-year-old defenseman Brady Skjei from Hartford and is expected to make his NHL debut against the Oilers at Madison Square Garden.

Skjei, the Rangers' first-round pick in the 2012 NHL draft who spent time with the Rangers during training camp, did not participate in Tuesday's morning skate because the Rangers couldn't officially call Skjei up until noon when forward Jarret Stoll's situation was sorted. Stoll, whom the Rangers placed on waivers on Monday, was claimed by the Minnesota Wild, opening up a roster spot for Skjei.
