PITTSBURGH — Another decent effort. Another loss. So it goes as the Rangers mosey their way toward the Feb. 25 trade deadline and eventually another playoff-less spring.
This was a 6-5 loss to the Penguins here on Sunday afternoon, when they did get some good performances from possible trade pieces in Mats Zuccarello, who scored twice, and Kevin Hayes, who got one.
But it wasn’t nearly enough during a disjointed effort, precipitated by awful officiating.
The Rangers (25-25-8) were coming off a nice, 6-2 win in Buffalo on Friday night, getting them to 8-5-1 over their previous 14 games.
