One of the greatest Rangers of all time has passed away.
Hall of Fame right wing Andy Bathgate, whose number "9" jersey hangs in the Garden rafters, died on Friday at the age of 83. The Hockey Hall of Fame announced Bathgate's passing and the Rangers confirmed the news on Twitter, sending their thoughts to his wife, Merle, and his family.
Bathgate played for the Rangers from 1952 through 1964, capturing the NHL's Hart Trophy as league MVP in 1958-59 when he became the first Rangers player ever to score 40 goals in a season.
